Professional stage career since 1987 (Henryk Tomaszewski's Wroclaw
Pantomime Theatre 1987-1990; Wojciech Misiuro's Expression Theatre1990-1992).
A director, choreographer who appears in most Dada von Bzdülöw
Theatre productions. Honored with awards for his artistic achievements
by the Mayor of Gdansk (1998) and the Mayor of Gdynia (1999). In
1999 granted the Minister of National Education award. In 2002 a
holder of Gdansk City Art Grant.
As a choreographer and stage movement director he has co-operated
with many theatres all over Poland. Yet has participated in nearly
40 productions. The most important: Dog's will (dir. by P. Cieplak,
Rozmaitosci Theatre, Warsaw), The Power (dir. by J. Englert, The
National Theatre, Warsaw), An Angel descended to Babylon (dir. by
J. Wernio, City Theatre, Gdynia), Winnie P. (dir. by P. Cieplak,
Studio Theatre, Warsaw), Hamlet (dir. by J. Glab, Drama Theatre,
Legnica). In City Theatre in Gdynia performed as a drama actor,
e.g.: Caliban (The Tempest, William Sheakspeare), David (Unidentified
Human Remains, Brad Fraser), Clarin (Life Is a Dream, Calderon de
la Barca).
He has participated in many international productions, e.g.: The
Rape of Europe - Landscape X (Intercult, Stockholm), In the body
and Papugaj (Baltic Dance University - Gdansk), Drop Dead Gorgeous
(co-production with Vincent Dance Theatre / England). In 2004 within
the international SEAS project on the premises of Gdansk Shipyard
he directed ODYS-SEAS event . Between 1997-2000 in City Theatre
in Gdynia he patronized a cycle of artistic events called A Day
of Beautiful Society. Since 2002 has patronized Dance Corporation
Festival in Gdansk.
He gave classes in the National Ballet School in Gdansk, as well
as, in the Performing Arts School at the Musical Theatre in Gdynia.
Since 1990 has been giving theatre workshops and dance classes in
Poland and abroad (e.g UK, Germany, Sweden, Finland, France, The
Czech Republic).

A few words about my dance:
The way I feel about modern dance is a result of my rich individual
experience (nearly 90 theatre and choreographic projects in 1987-2003,
ten years of studio practice with Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre,
many years of educational activity). I have been also strongly influenced
by meetings and co-operation with dancers, mime artists and choreographers,
such as: Marek Oleksy, Melisa Monteros, Tatiana Baganova, Rip Parker,
Randall Scott, Avi Kaiser, Cornrlius Fisher Credo, Chris Aiken,
Thomas Hauert, which determined my movement system and its functions
in performance/ choreography presentation.
My technique is strongly rooted in the theatre tradition. For me,
dance is currently the most complete and most effective training
in the preparation of an actor's body for stage performance. In
my technique the very impulse initiates a dance, as well as any
forms of voice trainings. Organic movements of the dance do not
create any barriers between a stage dialogue and creation of abstract
forms.
I conduct a workshop, which is mostly focused on an encoded lesson
of modern dance. An essential part of my proposal, however, is relaxation
and improvisation (both in dancing and acting). In my work I concentrate
on such preparation of a dancer so that his body consciousness,
rhythm consciousness and dance economy could help him to participate
efficiently and freely in the process of creation (theatre performance,
choreography).
My work method, or the system I use and which I may propose:
- consistent balance between tension and relax,
- integration - co-ordination of movement and breathing,
- finding out anatomic relations of movement apparatus,
- conscious usage of our potential and abilities when dancing,
Expansion of space inside the body and establishing relations of
a dancing body and stage space, a dialogue with a partner and all
successive stages of setting the theatre activity are just the result
of the elements of the system mentioned above.

Ironical,
denying the existence the love, full the contradictions - David
in Leszek Bzdyl's interpretation is without any doubt one of the
best male creations, which we could recently see on stages of the
Tri-city. Bzdyl draws perfectly this complicated nature, which uses
cynicism to conceal its longing for warmth and closeness. Characteristic,
hoarse voice, sharp features, soft movements - Kruszczynski made
no mistake casting thereon dancer, mime and choreographer (as an
actor sensu stricto he is practically an amateur) as a main character.
Bzdyl simply IS David; he does not play anything, he fully identifies
himself with the part, giving his character an outline of ambiguity.
He plays with his whole self, does not give up elements of dance
theatre, adding a new value to traditional actor's workshop

Action happens volubly, there are several daring scenes, mainly
with participation of Bogdan Smagacki and Leszek Bzdyl.

Bzdyl's Kaliban is a wild and hideous figure, just as Shakespeare
himself wanted him to be - dangerous, funny but also tragic. Bzdyl
created a characteristic part, giving his character a dramatic outline.
( ... ) Storm in Julia Wernio's staging has a load of coarse humour
(splendid drunken scenes with Stefan played by Dariusz Siastacz,
Trinkul - Bogdan Smagacki and Kaliban - Bzdyl)

That is him who shrugs his shoulders very suggestively, cuts the
air with a definite gesture, twists his face, smiles, opens his
mouths. He is a mute witness and patient listener of this feminine
tirade. The scene where Bzdyl moves his lips voicelessly simultaneously
with Mrozinska's part is truly impressive.
